Your dog and you have been together for some time now. You love them more than you can say, but there’s a few things about how they behave that annoy you. Ok, actually… there’s a few things about their behavior that are driving you nuts. The dog was supposed to be a fun and fufilling part of your life, not take it over. In other words, you need your home and Domestic Tranquility back.
Even good people have good dogs that need to learn how to co-exist in the balance of their home. We don’t “fix” dogs. We modify their behavior by changing the way they feel about you, themselves and the parts of the human world we let them experience. It usually starts by modifying your own behavior and your communication methods with your dog.
Behavior Modification courses are all custom to your family’s needs and ideal notion of a well-balanced, well behaved dog. After evaluation of the humans and their goals and the canine and their needs a program designed by our behaviorists and your family will commence, likely at a combination of your home, The Doggy Dojo, dog welcoming public spaces such as Lowe’s or Tractor Supply and, of course, our weekly Distraction Classes, Weekend Workshops, Community Hours and Sunday - Sundae Socials.
The programs generally consist of all the needed skillsets from the foundation courses to use as tools to tackle the specific behaviors we need to modify or remove from your dogs current behavior repertoire.
Some of the behaviors we are typically approached to help modify:
• Domestic Tranquility Course
⠀⠀⠀⠀Household Thievery, objects or possesions
⠀⠀⠀⠀Household Destruction, furniture and flooring, bedding and shoes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Counter Surfing
⠀⠀⠀⠀Guests entering the home is awkward or even dangerous
⠀⠀⠀⠀Alarm Barking at the mailman or delivery person
• Dog Reactivity/Selectivity/Aggression
⠀⠀⠀⠀From temper tantrums to fearful hesitancy to snarls and teeth and everything in between while meeting other dogs
• Human Reactivity/Selectivity
⠀⠀⠀⠀From temper tantrums to fearful hesitancy to snarls and teeth and everything in between while meeting new humans.
• Seperation Anxiety,
⠀⠀⠀⠀Velcro Dog Syndrome is cute for awhile but not being able to leave home without your dog hurting themselves or your home is not.
• General Anxiety
⠀⠀⠀⠀Your little doggo buddy happens to be wound up as tight as a long tail Chihuahua in a room full of rocking chairs?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀• Car rides, vets appointment, vacuum cleaners, fireworks, booms and bangs, toddlers or guests in the home send them running for their crate or hiding under the couch or shaking like a leaf?
• Prey Drive
⠀⠀⠀⠀Your best bud loves you but happens to appreciate little furry things a little too much?
• Resource Guarding
⠀⠀⠀⠀Do you get the side eye, growls or even snaps while your dog is eating? Would removing their favorite bone or toy result in tension or even a bite or “correction” from your dog?
• Entitlement- Defiance
⠀⠀⠀⠀Has your dog completely taken over your home and lifestyle? Do they outright defy or even try to intimidate you to “get their way”? Do friends and family members make excuses not to visit? Have you found yourself altering your daily activities and operations (lifestyle? life habits?) around your dogs wishes?
